Speculation for 2025: Farm machinery will go abroad for opportunities

2025/01/15 09:12

With the growing maturity of heavy tractors in our country, they will soon occupy the domestic market, and at the same time it is inevitable to enter the foreign market. The market for cotton picking machines is a precedent. Having captured the domestic market, it will inevitably enter the foreign market. This time, let's talk about the opportunities for agricultural machinery to go global in 2025.

Farm and implement a colorful tractor

The globalization of agricultural machinery is not only about exporting agricultural machinery products, but also about combining China's agricultural machinery production capacity with foreign demand. In terms of tractor exports, our country has recently reached about 140,000 units per year, with the highest export value being less than 7 trillion yuan. Among them, a significant proportion are hand tractors, and tractors with 180 horsepower or more are rare. Obviously, this export structure only reflects the middle and low level of tractors in China.

In 2025, with the maturity of power shift and continuously changing transmission of heavy tractors in China, they will not only quickly occupy the domestic market, but the export of large tractors will also achieve rapid growth, thereby changing the model structure of exported tractors. In a few years, with the maturity of China's new energy continuous variable transmission hybrid heavy tractors, a large number of heavy tractors will go overseas and introduce the wisdom and strength of the Chinese tractor industry into the international community.

So how can our agricultural machinery go abroad has become a concern for people. Although I do not have much experience in this field, I have witnessed the process of multinational agricultural machinery enterprises entering China over the years, which should become a benchmark for Chinese agricultural machinery to go abroad.

Multinational agricultural machinery enterprises entering China generally must go through the process of finding agents in China, setting up offices to ship agricultural machinery products to China, and then seeking joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, or independent plant construction with Chinese enterprises. John Deere, New Holland, Aiko, Kolesui, Yangma, Kubota and Kuhn have all gone through this process.

Advertising products in professional media in countries where agricultural machinery exports or cooperates can be an experimental method. If users or companies of the target country are interested in the product, they should contact the contact information in the advertisement to negotiate cooperation; If no one is interested, then give up to avoid causing significant losses to the company.

Then South Korea's Datong wanted to enter China using this approach. They contacted Farm Equipment magazine and I answered the phone. We agreed to advertise our products on the second page of Agricultural Equipment throughout the year and have done so for two years in a row. Since they do not have an office or distributor in China, we contact them annually by phone and fax, make advance payments for publication, and pay in US dollars. So I remember it very clearly.

In addition, in order to enter the agricultural machinery market of a certain country, it is common for multinational enterprises to build spare parts warehouses in advance when entering the product market. If the accessory service cannot keep up after the product is sold, it will affect the experience of the first batch of users and have a very adverse impact on subsequent performance.

To boost promotional efforts, foreign companies usually invite media or industry leaders to visit. For example, in 2004 he was invited to France to take part in the celebration of the 175th anniversary of the Kuhn company.

In October 2008, the General Secretary of the Tractor Society, Chen Yingli, was invited to visit the ZF factory and heavy tractor demonstration activities in Germany. In April 2009, the magazine and the Tractor Society held an international workshop on heavy-duty tractor support technology in Qingdao, promoting heavy-duty variable-power tractor technology in China. A team of four people from ZF took part in the seminar to present the product technology.

The above measures have effectively strengthened the promotion of enterprises' products in destination countries. Domestic agricultural machinery businesses that intend to go global can learn from or imitate.

In 2025, we hope more agricultural machinery enterprises will go abroad and achieve success!
