Speculation in 2025: Opportunities for regional markets

Based on subsidized sales of major agricultural machinery in China in 2024, there are still a large number of small machines available. One of them is agricultural machinery. More than 500,000 micro-arable machines and 110,000 field managers have been sold nationwide at a subsidized price of about 2,000 yuan. The province with the highest volume of subsidized sales of micro-arable machines reached 95,000 units, the second place had more than 70,000 units, and the third place had more than 60,000 units. In my opinion, at least part of the market should be an alternative to small wheeled or tracked tractors.

The second is harvesting equipment. Although more than 50,000 combine harvesters and more than 30,000 corn combines across the country have received marketing subsidies, some provinces and territories subsidize the sale of a large number of threshing machines and corn threshers. The provinces that rank first and second in terms of sales volume have 24,000 and 15,000 units respectively, while the provinces with the highest sales volume have 23,000 units.

Thirdly, there is still a lot of room to improve the mechanization of livestock farming. Currently, the 15,000 fully combined feed machines sold on a subsidized basis are mostly small stationary ones, and many farms also use a large number of lawn mowers and feed crushers. In 2024, China will subsidize the sale of 30,000 lawn mowers and 165,000 feed crushers.

Fourthly, small agricultural machinery. For example, a small rice mill that costs a few hundred dollars can subsidize 114.6 thousand units nationwide, and the province subsidizes the sale of more than 100,000 units. Personally, I think that subsidizing small rice mills could be stopped and efforts could be focused on subsidizing large combined rice mills, so as to promote the upgrading of rice milling in the province. For example, there are about 20,000 tea machines in China, one province subsidizes the sale of more than 9,000, and another finances the sale of almost 6,000, most of which are small electric tea machines costing less than 1,000 yuan.

It should be noted that the data was collected at the end of December 2024. Since most of the 2024 subsidy data is from 2023, and provinces and territories will be phasing into 2024 by the end of the year, some data is collected in 2024, some is still collected in 2023, and some is even within two years . Therefore, the statistical complexity is relatively high and the data are available for reference purposes only. Currently, some provinces and territories do not have access to historical data during the annual data update process.
